Due to the increasing number of immigrants who are settling in our community and after identifying that many of these families rely on their children to communicate in English to the adult members of the family, Jennifer coordinated monthly math and reading workshops for parents who do not communicate in English at home and a peer tutorial program to assist the children of these immigrant families to understand our school system and requirements. These workshops assist the families with learning and understanding English and math so they can assist their children in schoolwork and the children learn how to cope with learning in a foreign country.
