I was researching what’s new in apps for non profits and live events when I came across this app that allows you to use your iPhone, iPad or Android phone to charge credit cards.
Square is a revolutionary service that enables anyone to accept credit cards anywhere. Square offers an easy to use, free credit card reader that plugs into a phone or iPad. It’s simple to sign up. There is no extra equipment, complicated contracts, monthly fees or merchant account required. However, you will be charged fifteen cents and 2.75% per transaction.
Non-profits can get rid of the pledge cards and use Square on iPhones and iPads to immediately collect those pledges. I see a whole army of people with iPads and Square devices working the crowds at non-profit events swiping credit cards and delivering better cash flow.
Co-founded by Jim McKelvey and Jack Dorsey in 2009, the company is headquartered in San Francisco with additional offices in Saint Louis and New York City.

How does the payment come? In check or do you have to link your bank account to the square a count?
During the application process you have to have a verified bank account. The payments are sent to that account minus their fee.
